WINNIPEG, July 3, 2014 /CNW/ - The 2014 Canadian Teachers' Federation (CTF) President's Forum will address issues of child poverty, gender equality, mental health stigma and more, in conjunction with the new Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) in Winnipeg. Additional subjects of discussion include child trafficking, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality, language rights and Aboriginal education.

"It's all about trying to engage the classroom teacher to make a difference, which is about inciting passion in teachers and students, and knowing that these human rights violations have no place in society," said CTF President Dianne Woloschuk.

"The Forum follows on the footsteps of the joint national human rights initiative currently underway with the CMHR through our Imagineaction platform. This initiative will provide curriculum material for elementary and secondary teachers to help students identify defenders of human rights," she continued.

The Manitoba Teachers' Society (MTS) as the host of this year's CTF President's Forum has acquired the naming rights for a classroom at the CMHR which is set to open in September 2014.
