OTTAWA, May 11, 2015 /CNW/ - The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) and the Ministry of Economy of the United Mexican States (ME) today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two organizations that reinforces the significant trade relationship between Canda and Mexico. The MOU is an important building block for increased regional standardization and free trade.
Canada and Mexico share a dynamic and prosperous relationship as strategic partners in the Americas and around the world. Formalizing the relationship enables SCC to pursue enhanced cooperation on standards in sectors of strategic importance for Canada such as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) cross border-trade, energy efficiency, transportation and consumer product safety.
This Memorandum of Understanding will enhance bilaterial relations, facilitate harmonization and alignment of cross-border requirements, and promote standards and conformity assessment to the benefit of industry and government in both countries.
