OTTAWA, Oct. 4, 2016 /CNW/ - October is Small Business Month, a time to recognize the hard work and sacrifice of the thousands of small business owners across the country. Their success has a huge impact on the economy and Canada Post is proud to help make their important work a little bit easier.
"Small business owners and entrepreneurs rely heavily on the postal system to send bills, cheques and offers to their customers," says Deepak Chopra, President and CEO of Canada Post. "We also work closely with small businesses entering e-commerce to help them with their day-to-day shipping needs but also to innovate and grow because the more successful they are, the more successful we are."
In Canada, small business makes up 98 per cent of all businesses and employs millions of Canadians. They not only rely on Canada Post for the shipping of their parcels but they still regularly use the mail to conduct their operations.
At this year's Canada Post E-commerce Innovation Awards, Canada Post recognized and celebrated four small business companies for their excellence in e-commerce, omni-channel strategies and customer engagement. Each winner receives a high-value prize that includes $50,000 of free shipping, along with a substantial marketing package. This year's winners were:
- Surmesur out of Quebec City for Best Omni-Channel Retailer Award
- Momzelle out of Montréal for Pure Play of the Year Award
- MATH Sport out of Quebec City for Most Exciting Start-Up Award; and
- Lunapads International out of Vancouver for the Community Impact Award
To mark this year's Small Business Month and as a token of its appreciation, Canada Post has given small business owners four days to circle on their calendars, as it introduces Free Shipping Tuesdays. The special offer entitles customers to one domestic Xpresspost™ or one Expedited™ parcel shipment at no cost every Tuesday in October. The offer is open to Canada Post Solutions for Small BusinessTM customers.
