Ottawa first market in Ontario to roll-out McDonald's Create Your TasteTM burger concept
OTTAWA, March 7, 2016 /CNW/ - McDonald's is shaking things up in the nation's capital. As part of the brand's evolution to meet the needs of guests and offer more personalized options, Ottawa will be the first market in Ontario to roll out McDonald's new Restaurant Experience of the Future. Local residents and visitors will now have the opportunity to 'taste and see' a different McDonald's than what they are used to. This new experience puts burger lovers in the driver's seat, enabling them to create their own McDonald's burger from nearly 30 ingredients, including the classic Big Mac® sauce, guacamole and even sriracha sauce – for something extra spicy.
"Today, we're offering our guests the customization and personalization they crave – everything from ordering at their own pace with new Self-Order kiosks, to building their own burger, to having their custom burgers delivered right to their table," said Natalie Saulnier, Vice President – Eastern Region, McDonald's Canada. "Seeing is truly believing and what better way to understand our new Restaurant Experience of the Future than for people to come in and see for themselves."
The Restaurant Experience of the Future is McDonald's Canada's new modernized guest experience that includes:
- Plans to create over 300 new local jobs in 25 Ottawa-area restaurants, with between 10 and 15 additional jobs per restaurant.
- Create Your TasteTM which enables guests to build their own burger, which is freshly-prepared in the kitchen with the choice of nearly 30 ingredients (including five types of cheese, 12 toppings, two buns, a lettuce wrap and nine sauces).
- McCafé Bakery, featuring authentic French croissants, Mini Chocolatines filled with chocolate in every bite, and Cream Cheese Danishes made with real fruit.
- Guest Experience Leaders that help guests choose between Self-Order Kiosks or counter service, find them seats and deliver food to their tables.
Together with its franchisees, the company will also be investing on average an incremental $200,000 - $250,000 per restaurant as part of its accelerated growth plan.
"We are thrilled to kick off McDonald's next chapter in Ottawa," added Saulnier. "To celebrate we will also be teaming up with hometown favourites, the Ottawa Senators, and inviting their 'racing prime ministers' to come in and check it out – adding a fun flavour. We are sure whatever they create will be worth an 'honourable' mention!"
