OTTAWA, June 4 2015 /CNW/ - Export Development Canada (EDC) today announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Colombia's National Development Bank (Financiera de Desarrollo Nacional "FDN") that will formalize the partnership between the two organizations.
The MOU will lay the groundwork for EDC and FDN to collaborate on infrastructure projects in Colombia, and will also help EDC identify opportunities for Canadian companies to be connected to those projects.
"Colombia's economy is booming, and their infrastructure development is accelerating to keep pace. We want to entrench ourselves in the market so that when opportunities come up, we are there to suggest Canadian companies for those projects," said Gustavo Galvis, Chief Representative, Infrastructure and Project Finance, Andean Region, EDC. "The FDN is a perfect partner for us in Colombia because they bring local knowledge and connections to the table, which are both invaluable for Canadian companies and when dealing in infrastructure development."
"The FDN is developing a strategy to establish alliances with key international entities like EDC that can strengthen our work with their experience and knowledge, which will help us achieve the best results for the development of Colombia's infrastructure," said Clemente del Valle, President of FDN. "In addition, these agreements with high level partners become fundamental in their participation in the financing of infrastructure projects in the country."
Colombia is a strategic market for Canada, as outlined in the Government's Global Market Action Plan. EDC is always looking to pursue opportunities and concentrate resources across multiple sectors in order to support Colombian companies as they undertake, or consider, business with Canadian companies
"If your company is looking to grow business abroad, whether in Latin America or anywhere else in the world, please give us a call; we have the tools to help you do it," added Galvis.
