Education Remains Foundation of Canadian Payroll Association Events
TORONTO, April 25, 2018 /CNW/ - Over a decade ago, the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) redeveloped its foundational certification resources to launch, what today, remain the only payroll certification programs in Canada — the Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) and Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) certifications. Now, more than a decade on, the Association counts nearly 14,000 certified PCPs and CPMs among its membership.
And this month, the Association is recognizing the 1220 new PCPs and CPMs, who join the ranks of the Association's certified professionals, at 11 Certification Recognition Events across Canada. In addition to those newly certified, the CPA is proud to recognize the more than 2,400 certified alumni who have the distinct honour of holding their PCP or CPM for over a decade.
"The CPA continues to celebrate the educational achievements of its newly certified individuals who, by obtaining their PCP or CPM, commit to live the Association's values of Community, Professionalism and Authoritative Compliance Knowledge," says Steven Van Alstine, Vice President of Education at the CPA. "And this year, we would also like to commend our long-standing certification holders for exemplifying the highest standard of payroll compliance excellence. Congratulations to all!"
Education has been a cornerstone of the CPA's events and offerings since its formation in 1978. The Association's commitment to ongoing professional development has been fundamental in raising the profile of payroll so that organizations continue to seek and value the expertise of CPA members to be compliant and contribute to their goals. And the Association continues to celebrate its members' educational milestones at every turn.
This June 27-29, at the CPA's 36th National Conference and Trade Show in Ottawa, Ontario, the Association will once again host an Education Awards luncheon for its delegates. This flagship event brings together more than 800 delegates including newly certified payroll graduates, alumni, and non-certified professionals in payroll, human resources and accounting for vital education sessions on compliance, employment standards, strategic management and more. This year's Education Luncheon will feature an award presentation to the new graduate with the highest academic achievements in the past year, a formal recognition of its graduates (including those with more than a decade of certification), and an inspiring keynote address on 'Women in Leadership' from The Honorable Rona Ambrose.
CERTIFICATION PAYS for both employers and employees. Third-party research from recruiters shows that certified payroll professionals continue to earn more than their non-certified peers. Employers continue to search for PCP and CPM certified professionals to fill vacancies, knowing that these professionals have job-ready skills to meet their needs. That's why the PCP and CPM are recognized by employers as the gold standard in Canadian payroll education.
The CPA congratulates this year's regional and National award winners. Gold, Silver and Bronze awards were presented to the top three students who demonstrated outstanding academic excellence by earning the top marks in their regions for core PCP certification payroll compliance courses.
