Canadian university and college students rank EY #1 employer for accounting, #2 for business 3rd year in a row Français
Firm offers robust learning and development opportunities
TORONTO, June 14, 2016 /CNW/ - For the third year in a row, EY's progressive and flexible culture is being recognized and embraced by Canadian university and college students. Today/this week Universum's Canadian Student Survey ranked EY the #1 employer for accounting, and #2 for business, second only to Google.
"Young people are the future of Canada, and indeed the future of our business," says Stephen Shea, EY's Managing Partner, Talent, in Canada. "This ranking speaks volumes to us. We invest a lot in helping our people grow and develop from the moment they start working for us. Every day, our people help us in our purpose of building a better working world, and young people are a critical part of that."
EY has a long-standing reputation for its learning and growth opportunities – and that's attractive to university and college students seeking to launch their careers at EY. According to Universum's criteria, millennials indicate a dynamic work environment and an employer's respect for its people are among the most important considerations when selecting a future employer. Those findings are also echoed in EY's recent research on generations. Eighteen percent of respondents rank flexibility as the most important non-cash/benefit perk. In fact, 38% of Gen X respondents said they'd be more likely to walk away from their current job in the absence of day-to-day flexibility.
"We're honoured that young people choose EY as a place to build their careers," says Shea. "We strive to create a culture that makes our firm a desired employer in Canada for all generations. We are implementing Workplace of the Future across the country so we can continue to encourage flexibility and high-performance teaming to provide exceptional client service"
In April, EY was also named one of the Best Workplaces in Canada by Great Place to Work® Institute Canada, as well as one of the 50 Best Workplaces in Canada for Women.
