MONTREAL, May 16, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Centraide of Greater Montreal's next annual campaign will be co-chaired by Lino A. Saputo, Jr. and Louis Vachon. The Chief Executive Officer and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Saputo and the President and Chief Executive Officer of National Bank will head up the 2012 campaign cabinet, a strategic committee composed of 28 leaders of business, the public sector and the trade unions. These great volunteers will work to ensure the success of the biggest fundraising campaign in support of the most vulnerable people of Montreal, Laval and the South Shore.
Centraide's campaign will be officially launched on October 3 on the occasion of the 21st March of 1,000 Umbrellas through downtown Montreal.
Between now and then, the members of the campaign cabinet will solicit business leaders in all sectors of the economy. They will try to persuade them to contribute to this fall's campaign by making a corporate donation and organizing a workplace campaign for their employees.
In 2011, Centraide's campaign was conducted in 2,000 workplaces. A record $58.7 million was collected to support a vast network of 360 community agencies that help individuals and families in situations of poverty. Over 83% of this amount was raised from organizations and their employees.
Centraide of Greater Montreal is an independent organization managed by a board of directors that is representative of the community. Over 23,000 volunteers work on its annual campaign to help 500,000 disadvantaged people. To learn more: www.centraide-mtl.org.
