MONTRÉAL, June 27, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
The governments of Canada and Quebec are confirming the award of a total of $3.3M in financial assistance to CGP Expal to support its expansion with the acquisition of new equipment for its production line. This project represents total investments of more than $11M and will help create 14 well-paying jobs in Bromont.
The Government of Canada has granted a repayable contribution of $1.5M under the Quebec Economic Development Program through Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED). The Government of Quebec has provided CGP Expal with a $1.8M loan through its ESSOR program (website in French only).
The Honourable Denis Paradis, Member of Parliament for Brome–Missisquoi, acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, and Stéphane Billette, Member for Huntingdon and Minister for Small and Medium Enterprises, Regulatory Streamlining and Regional Economic Development, acting on behalf of Dominique Anglade, Deputy Premier, Minister of Economy, Science and Innovation and Minister responsible for the Digital Strategy, made the announcement today during the inauguration of CGP's new production unit.
More specifically, CGP Expal's project consists in acquiring the equipment needed to transfer some of the manufacturing processes for products intended for the U.S. market from its European plant to its Bromont plant. The company will be adding a coating process to the plant's cutting and distribution activities. A production area was laid out to start up the paper coating unit.
With assistance from the governments, CGP was able to purchase the equipment needed for its project, including a new-generation paper coater, a cutting machine, a spooler, a film wrapping machine and a pile turner. The financial support was also used to cover the costs of laboratory equipment and computer hardware.
