OTTAWA, May 15, 2018 /CNW/ - In consultation with the National Division RCMP, Quebec's Crown Attorney Office, the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions, has decided to proceed with a direct indictment of Sami Abdellah Bebawi and Constantine Andreas Kyres.
In 2014, the RCMP laid charges against Kyres and Bebawi for obstructing justice. On February 16, 2018, the Crown's office issued a stay of proceedings by way of nolle prosequi. On May 8, 2018, the Crown filed a Notice of Recommencement of Proceedings, thereby reviving the charges against both accused.
An endorsed arrest warrant was executed on May 10, 2018 for both accused and they were released on a Promise to Appear on May 15, 2018 at the Montreal Courthouse. As this case is now before the courts, the RCMP will not comment any further.
The RCMP's National Division is a world-leader in high-priority sensitive investigations and protective operations.
