MONTREAL, Feb. 25, 2016 /CNW/ - Chartwell Retirement Residences, Canada's largest owner and operator of retirement residences, is excited to announce, in partnership with Bâtimo/EMD Construction, that it will be growing its presence in Quebec to include a new independent living retirement residence in the community of Candiac. The new site, Chartwell Le Montcalm, is expected to employ 150 people. Approximately 45 permanent jobs will be created once the residence is fully operational.
Chartwell Le Montcalm will include 276 rental apartments as part of a brand new residential project recently announced by Groupe Steckmar: le Square Candiac. Additionally, 45 condos with services will be undertaken by Bâtimo/EMD. Le Square Candiac is expected to meet the highest global standards in urban planning for its 1,700 residential units, and offers a peaceful living environment along with beautiful design features and amenities to help promote an active lifestyle.
"After our most recent announcement of a new residence in Vaudreuil-Dorion, Chartwell is excited to continue growing our presence in Quebec," said Maxime Camerlain, Chartwell's Vice President of Marketing. "Being at the heart of Square Candiac will be the perfect location for active seniors choosing to live in a retirement home to stay involved in their own community."
"Again, Bâtimo and EMD are proud to partner with Chartwell for the construction of a new residence that will meet the highest standards of quality. The opportunity to build Chartwell Le Montcalm within an environment such as Square Candiac was a real inspiration to all of our partners. Undoubtedly, future residents will be privileged to live there," added Francis Charron, Batimo's President.
The residence will offer a contemporary and welcoming environment with elegant and modern architecture and bright, spacious suites. As Candiac stands out with its urban forest of 15,000 trees, the unique design of the residence will provide direct access to nature, both inside and outside, so people can feel at home surrounded by both natural surroundings as well as the warm, upscale décor of the residence. The prime location on Montcalm North Boulevard is within close walking distance to City Hall, a variety of retail shops and in close proximity to public services, such as Local Community Service Centre (CLSC) or Centre Roméo-Patenaude. The residence is also close to major transportation routes including Highways 15 and 30, and public transportation is easily accessible.
« The City of Candiac proudly welcomes this major complex for seniors on the site of the new Square Candiac. Being focused on active transportation and best practices of sustainable development, this project will provide our seniors and their families a unifying and intergenerational living environment close to many community-based, recreational and commercial infrastructures. Long overdue, this complex is fully in line with our Family and Seniors Policy adopted by the City Council last August as well as the 2014-2029 Strategic Development Plan, » tells Mayor Normand Dyotte.
Chartwell Le Montcalm will join Chartwell's existing network of 42 residences across the province and more than 180 locations across Canada. The anticipated opening date is fall 2017, while the Sales Office is expected to open in April 2016. "With this new construction in Candiac, along with four other projects in construction in the province, we are proud to be bringing our vision of Making People's Lives Better and our values of RESPECT to even more seniors in Quebec," added Mr. Camerlain.
