OTTAWA, April 23, 2020 /CNW/ - The Canadian Medical Association (CMA) applauds today's announcement by the federal government that it will invest $1.1 billion in a National Medical Strategy to tackle COVID-19. Investments in research, clinical trials, and national testing and modelling will prove essential to recovery efforts and the sustained management of COVID-19.
The CMA also welcomes the creation of a COVID-19 Immunity Task Force, with appointed experts including Dr. David Naylor, Dr. Theresa Tam, Dr. Catherine Hankins, Dr. Tim Evans and Dr. Mona Nemer.
We look forward to contributing to this crucial work and supporting a cautious but effective approach to re-opening health care services that are so vital to Canadians.
