The Honourable Rob Moore announces support for commemorative projects
HAMPTON, NB, Nov. 10, 2014 /CNW/ - The Honourable Rob Moore, Minister of State (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency) and Regional Minister for New Brunswick, today announced Government of Canada funding for two projects to pay tribute to Canada's brave men and women who have served in uniform. Minister Moore made the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Julian Fantino, Minister of Veterans Affairs.
The Village of Grande Anse (website available in French only) received $950 for its Remembrance Day 2014 event. Held on November 9, this special event included a remembrance ceremony and wreath laying in recognition of the sacrifices made by Veterans and their families.
Royal Canadian Legion Branch 56 will receive $2,170 for the Commemoration of the Battle of the Atlantic, which will be held on November 10 in Caraquet, New Brunswick. In addition to a wreath-laying ceremony, information and history on the Battle of the Atlantic will be shared, followed by a presentation of commemorative plaques to Veterans of the battle.
