Corinne Payne re-elected President of the Fédération des comités de parents du Québec (FCPQ) Français
QUÉBEC CITY, May 21, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - Fédération des comités de parents du Québec (FCPQ) President Corinne Payne has been re-elected to head the Federation. As prescribed in the FCPQ's General Regulations, the President's term of office is two years.
Upon announcement of her re-election, Corinne Payne said, "The FCPQ's fundamental mission is to defend and enhance the rights of parents involved in the participatory bodies within Québec's public school system." Ms. Payne expressed her pride in helping to represent parents before the authorities and partners responsible for determining public education policy.
Commitment makes change happen
Ms. Payne went on to say that she was "convinced that by being actively involved in the education structures within their respective school communities, parents can contribute to protecting the public education system. At a time when these structures are being overhauled, the onus is on us to ensure that the changes that will be made to the world of education are done solely in the best interest of the students enrolled in our public schools."
Make education a genuine priority
The FCPQ President also pointed out that "the slashes of all kinds to public education in recent years have had an enormous adverse effect on the educational services available in our schools. We're letting children down because of the shortage of resources. This is unacceptable."
Corinne Payne pledged, "Every time I interact with our many education partners, I'll hammer home the need to make education a genuine Québec-wide priority. Parents won't put up any longer with cutbacks that undermine the potential for their child to succeed. Governments must invest in the education system."
Profile of the Fédération des comités de parents du Québec (FCPQ):
For nearly 40 years, the FCPQ has been an umbrella group for Québec school board Parents' Committees and has supported volunteering parents who care about parent participation in public elementary and secondary schools in order to ensure quality education for children.
