CORNWALL, ON, June 20, 2017 /CNW/ - On June 21st and 22nd 2017, members from the Cornwall Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Detachment along with its local law enforcement partners in Canada and in the United States (US) will be conducting high visibility patrols to promote the security along our shared borders. Additionally, on the Canadian side, uniformed officers will be visiting and meeting with residents along the shoreline of the St. Lawrence River between Cornwall and Iroquois. The goal of this surge operation is to provide insight to residents on the importance of border security, to seek their input and to answer any questions they may have.
"Collaborative efforts such as this solidify our partnerships with the various law enforcement agencies, both in Canada and the US that are dedicated to border integrity", said Insp. Steve Ethier, Officer in charge of the Cornwall Regional Task Force.
The following units and partners will be assisting the Cornwall RCMP Detachment during this operation: RCMP Valleyfield Detachment, Ontario Provincial Police Stormont Dundas Glengarry Detachment, OPP Aviation Services, Canada Border Services Agency, Cornwall Community Police Service, Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service, Ontario Ministry of Finance, St. Lawrence Parks Commission, United States Coast Guard and the United States Border Patrol.
