Cree Nation government agrees with government of Québec on mediation mandate of Lucien Bouchard Français
QUEBEC CITY, Jan. 29, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - Grand Chief Dr. Matthew Coon Come met today with Premier Philippe Couillard to agree on the mandate of Me Lucien Bouchard to act as mediator between the Cree Nation of Eeyou Istchee and the Government of Québec in order to promote the resolution of the Baril-Moses forestry dispute between the Cree and Québec and of certain related issues.
The Grand Chief stated, "We are pleased that we have agreed with Québec on a mediation mandate for Mr. Bouchard to resolve this dispute of vital importance for the traditional Cree way of life. I wish to acknowledge the openness of Premier Couillard in ensuring that this mediation can move forward. I have told him that the Cree will work with Mr. Bouchard and with Québec to find constructive solutions."
