Three-day festival returns with more cars, activities and fun for all ages
MONTREAL, May 29, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Each year Montreal turns into summer mode with the arrival of the Crescent Street Grand Prix Festival presented by Corona Extra. From June 5 to 7, one of the world's most popular motorsport street festival promise more cars, more pro driver autograph sessions and more pit-stop friendly challenges with more personalities than ever. And to top it off, the most popular bands over the last 15 years will come back and rock festival goers with sound and rhythm that will carry the party every evening of the 3-day happening.
Covering two full blocks on Montreal's most famous downtown restaurant and bar street, from Sherbrooke to Ste-Catherine, the Crescent Street Grand Prix Festival presented by Corona Extra draws between 400,000 to 500,000 plus visitors year in, year out.
For its 15th anniversary, Crescent Street will offer more cars with the return of Dodge and Fiat vehicles, along with Alfa Romeo as the official automotive sponsors of the event. The Alfa Romeo Pit Stop challenge will begin Thursday at 1pm, where celebrities, athletes and the general public will test their skills at a timed, tire-changing activity that is just like the professional race car drivers experience. The media will have their own chance to test out their skills at 4:30pm on Thursday. Race fans will enjoy a visit to the Fiat and Dodge Zones, where they can check out an array of performance-inspired vehicles including the Dodge Challenger Shaker, Dodge Dart Scat Pack, Fiat 500 Abarth and Fiat 500 Sport Turbo.
What better place to launch an all-new vehicle that was inspired by the Alfa Romeo brand's legendary racing history, than at a festival celebrating motorsports. With its purposeful design for maximum performance, the Alfa Romeo 4C will make its Canadian premiere at this year's Crescent Street Grand Prix Festival.

Presented by TW Steel, Sergio Perez, driver for the Sahara Force India team, will be signing autographs on the Corona Extra Stage on Thursday June the 5th at 5:00 pm. David Coulthard, F1 driver and now commentator on the BBC Formula One broadcast will be doing a question and answer session with Jason Rockman, CHOM deejay and lead singer of the Montreal rock band Slaves on Dope, on the Corona Extra stage at 7:50 pm, Thursday June the 5th.
Crescent Street Grand Prix Festival presented by Corona Extra has been the center of some of the biggest street parties over the years with the presence of great bands that rocked the street with their music. For its 15th anniversary, organizers of the world famous festival are bringing back the most popular bands from past years. Thanks to Labatt Breweries and its Corona Extra brand, The Corona Extra Stage, located at the corner of Crescent and de Maisonneuve Blvd will welcome Rise Up on Thursday evening, followed by Freddy James on Friday and a special electronic music show by international DJ Domeno along with Body Groove, special guests and surprises on Saturday evening.
Another activity of interest on the Corona Extra Stage will be the presence of the Alouettes Cheerleaders presented by Kymco scooters, performing on Thursday June 5 at 5:45 pm. Alumni players will be present at the opening ceremonies and the celebrity Pit Stop challenge along with some of the cheerleaders.
Crescent Street will also welcome the FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015 as it launches its "one-year" official countdown Friday June the 6th at 12:00 to the first game in Canada of one of the world most prestigious competition, the FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015, in which Montreal is one of the host cities with Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Ottawa and Moncton. The World Cup booth will have on display the Official FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Canada 2014 Trophy with photo opportunities. Entertaining soccer jugglers, prize draws and handouts will be on hand for everyone to enjoy.

Opening ceremonies for the festival will take place on Thursday, June 5 at 12:30 p.m. on the Corona Extra Stage and will be followed by the Celebrity Pit Stop Challenge at 1 p.m. and the media competition at 4:30 p.m. The public will be invited to test their tire-changing skills at the Pit Stop Challenge on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, as the friendly competition will be open all day.
The Crescent Street Grand Prix Festival presented by Corona Extra will be open every day from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Crescent Street taking up two full blocks of excitement between Sainte-Catherine and Sherbrooke streets, June 5-7.
