MONTREAL, April 24, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Desjardins Group is warning its members, clients and the general public about a wave of fraudulent emails currently being circulated.
Over the last few days, members of Desjardins caisses and clients from a number of other financial institutions have been targeted by fraudsters who are sending out mass emails and trying to obtain personal account or credit card information. This technique is known as phishing.
Desjardins never requires its members or clients to confirm or provide personal information through email. All Desjardins members should act with caution. All fraudulent or suspicious emails should be deleted immediately or forwarded, unopened, to: [email protected].
Desjardins strongly urges anyone who receives this type of email to avoid clicking any links in the message, and ideally, to leave the email unopened. Clicking the links may expose your computer to a virus.
