TORONTO, Jan. 11, 2017 /CNW/ - With a rapidly growing movement toward online education, the Government of Ontario is leading the way with its continued support of eCampusOntario.
Funded by the Government of Ontario, eCampusOntario is a not-for-profit organization that encourages collaboration between elearning practitioners, promotes greater access to educational resources through Open Education initiatives, and works to create the best possible online learning experience for students in Ontario and around the world.
The mandate for eCampusOntario includes strengthening Ontario's position as an innovative leader in online education. eCampusOntario's member organizations include the 44 publicly funded Ontario colleges and universities.
A forum for innovation and exploration
The 2017 eLearning Seminar + Showcase, to be held at the Toronto Reference Library, 789 Yonge Street in Toronto, Ontario on January 17th, will be attended by elearning professionals from eCampusOntario member institutions, with guest speakers and industry experts on the agenda.
Speakers and presenters will include eCampusOntario Co-Chair Judith Morris, President & CEO of Lambton College; Don Presant, President of Learning Agents and an award-winning learning innovator; Richard Tuck, CEO of Riipen, and Jake Hirsch-Allen, lead for Higher Education at LinkedIn Canada.
Tilting learning and teaching practices in a whole new direction
The 2017 eLearning Seminar + Showcase will provide college and university level faculty, instructional designers and administrators with a unique opportunity to network with their peers, showcase their latest achievements and work together to create the best online programs.
The event will feature an informal venue called The Unconference where elearning professionals create their own breakout groups, discuss topical issues and explore new ideas.
Event participants will also engage with students through the Student Experience Design (SXD) Studio presentations. These presentations will feature the outcomes of a previous full-day session on January 16th at the same location, where students will gather to visualize the future of online learning.
New perspectives for better education
