OTTAWA, Oct. 10, 2018 /CNW/ - The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy (OSB), today announced the appointment of Elisabeth Lang as Superintendent of Bankruptcy, effective immediately.
"Ms. Lang brings a wealth of experience to this position. She also has a deep understanding of the mandate and mission of the organization, having previously served in key roles at the OSB," said Minister Bains. "She will ensure that bankruptcies and insolvencies are administered fairly and benefit investors, lenders and Canadians."
In addition to welcoming Ms. Lang to her new role, Minister Bains took the opportunity to thank the outgoing Superintendent, Bill James, for his years of service to the OSB.
Ms. Lang served on the OSB executive team from 2007 to 2016. After leaving the OSB, she held positions at the Competition Bureau, serving as Chief of Staff to the Commissioner of Competition and then as Associate Deputy Commissioner of the Deceptive Marketing Practices Directorate.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from King's University College at Western University before completing her law degree at York University's Osgoode Hall.
The primary focus of the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy is the effective delivery of its statutory mandate of supervising the administration of all estates and matters to which the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act applies. For more information, visit the OSB website.
