Even more innovations in the 3rd Antisalon de l'emploi for 16-35 year-olds! - Real encounters, fun workshops, great atmosphere and job offers galore! Français
MONTREAL, March 13, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - The third edition of the Antisalon will be held on Thursday, March 22, between 3 and 6 p.m. in the Urban Salon at Place des Arts (PDA). For the occasion, organizers of the event, the Carrefour jeunesse-emploi Montréal Centre-Ville, and the Société de développement social, have put together a fantastic program filled with innovations designed for young job seekers from 16 to 35 years of age as well as for the recruiters who are seeking the perfect match. The event is free and candidates must register in advance on the Eventbrite network.
The objective of this large gathering, which will bring together 500 candidates and 100 recruiters from 50 companies in various fields, remains the same: to help young people find their place in the job market or offer them guidance in achieving their occupational projects by offering the appropriate framework. This anti-conformist event will take place in a joyful and relaxed atmosphere, far different from traditional job fairs.
The Antisalon, what is it exactly?
This new type of recruitment and networking activity creates a space for job seekers and employers to meet, while placing them on an equal footing. Above and beyond skills, it is the human being, the participant's profile and personality that takes first place. The usual tools, cv, letter and pre-formatted interviews, are set aside. The message launched by the organizers to the participants is clear and positive: "The Antisalon, it's simple: just present yourself as you are."
On their arrival on March 22, the candidates will be welcomed by a squad of counselors who will point them to the pertinent resources and facilitate the right match. The 500 employment opportunities available, accessible to all, will be offered by the recruiters, such as Air Transat, American Eagle Outfitters, Communauto, Couche-tard, H&M, Juliette & Chocolat, le Partenariat du Quartier des spectacles et la Ville de Montréal.
The Antilab: two new workshops to prepare for the important meeting!
The Antilab is the training portion of the Antisalon. Whether they are cegep or university graduates, new on the job market or having difficulty in entering the world of work, each participant will stand to gain. The Antilab includes two practical made-to-measure workshops to enrich discussions between the recruiters and the candidates. Register free of charge on Eventbrite.
The first workshop, the Avant-Match, will offer "sales pitch" preparation in an informal setting throughout the entire Antisalon. In just a few minutes, the young people registered will gather tips to create their own self-marketing plan. Employment counselors will be on hand to revise the candidates' pitch and help them practice it.
To facilitate preparation for the Avant-Match and the Antisalon networking workshop, a participant's kit is available on the website. Especially designed to increase the young participants' confidence, it includes exercises for becoming a pro, without losing one's soul! This original empowerment activity for young job seekers will take place at the entrance of the Salon Urbain in the PDA.
The second workshop, Meditate & Chill, 40 minutes in length, is designed to help young participants manage their stress when seeking employment, but also, and more importantly, it will help them cultivate well-being and balance by managing their emotions. This activity will take place three times in the vestibule of the 5th PDA hall.
Point Z: a workshop for employers
A workshop will also be offered for the employers on March 22 between 1 and 2:15 p.m., just before the Antisalon. Point Z will provide employers with an empathetic experience in order to help them better understand the many realities experienced by youth from generation Z. This activity will give them a chance to develop a comprehensive approach that will offer concrete help in their recruitment process. As well as networking, employers will also have the opportunity to share their good practices during this workshop given in the Salon Urbain of the PDA.
Partners who contribute to the success of the Antisalon
Organization of the 3rd edition of the Antisalon could not take place without the invaluable participation of the Ville-Marie borough, Destination Centre-Ville, the important partner of Roulo-Boulo, the Employment bus, the Forum jeunesse de l'île de Montréal, as well as the Starbucks Foundation which enable the organization of the two preparatory workshops for young participants and their employers.
