QUEBEC CITY, March 5, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - EXFO Inc. (NASDAQ: EXFO, TSX: EXF) announced today its participation at OFC/NFOEC 2012, March 6-8, 2012, in Los Angeles, California, where it will demonstrate the recent developments in its 40G/100G high-speed testing solution designed to help system manufacturers shorten time to market and network service providers roll out high-speed services.
EXFO innovations on display
At this year's event, EXFO will showcase the industry's most comprehensive 100G multiservice test solution. Combined in the portable FTB-500 platform, the FTB-85100G Packet Blazer 100G/40G Ethernet and OTN Test Module and FTB-8130NGE Power Blazer Next-Generation Multiservice Test Module enable operators to upgrade their networks to 40G/100G while addressing 10G and lower-rate services in a timely manner. With EXFO's new solution, network operators can count on the tools they need for simultaneous testing of different services to ensure turn-up efficiency.
EXFO's OTN test functionalities that were demonstrated at the Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF) Ethernet over OTN Interoperability event will also be on display at the OIF booth. EXFO is one of the twelve OIF member companies that conducted the global interoperability test, and its solution was used to characterize the Ethernet services running over the OTN data plane.
Among its latest product innovations, EXFO will introduce the addition of the IQS-5240S/BP Optical Spectrum Analyzer test modules to its Windows-based IQS-600 platform, the only modular system designed for R&D and manufacturing that provides optical, transport and datacom testing in a single environment. The recently launched IQS-5240S/B-P Optical Spectrum Analyzer series brings all the proven hardware and software features of the industry-leading FTB-5240S/BP to lab researchers and network equipment manufacturers.
Also, EXFO will showcase for the first time the new WDM-Aware testing, n-graph peak detection level and SCPI command capabilities on its FTB-5240S/B-P Optical Spectrum Analyzers. These added functionalities enable network operators to address some of their biggest challenges, such as reducing OPEX, removing the uncertainty of test results, and testing right the first time.
WDM Educational Seminar and SOA-based OTDR white paper
As part of OFC/NFOEC 2012, EXFO will be hosting a WDM Educational Seminar. Held on March 5, at 1:00 pm, this seminar will discuss best practices for successfully turning up and troubleshooting wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) fiber networks, providing specific guidance on how to identify the root cause of a WDM network failure and how to fix it. Industry experts involved in the operation, supervision or troubleshooting of WDM networks are invited to register in advance.
EXFO is also pleased to announce that its Widely Tunable SOA-Based OTDR Employing a Cost-Effective Source Configuration white paper will be presented at this year's OFC/NFOEC, Wednesday March 7, at 10:00 am, in Halls H and J (session JW2A.36).
"EXFO is not only pleased to showcase industry-leading capabilities, but we are also very excited to present a paper at this year's OFC-NFOEC. This opportunity is a testament to our partners, customers and experts who lead the industry in these complex areas of optical testing," said Étienne Gagnon, EXFO's Vice-President, Wireline Division and Corporate Marketing. "As a leading provider of 40G/100G test solutions for network operators and equipment manufacturers, our goal is to continue to meet and exceed our customers' needs."
