The Government of Canada is providing $360,000 in financial assistance to support this organization
SAINT-LAURENT, QC, Oct. 9, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
With the help of Government of Canada support, Développement économique Saint-Laurent (DESTL), through Export Montréal Ouest (ExMO), will be able to continue assisting businesses in the region with their export activities. ExMO is the regional export promotion agency (ORPEX) for the central-west and western regions of the Island of Montreal.
DESTL will receive a $360,000 non-repayable contribution to support ExMO's activities over the next three years. The announcement was made by Emmanuella Lambropoulos, Member of Parliament for Saint-Laurent, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED.
ORPEXES help businesses
- obtain basic exporting information;
- organize their activities aimed at breaking into foreign markets;
- receive a diagnosis on their export capacity;
- find out about funding opportunities for their export projects;
- get specialized training; and
- develop an international business plan.
The funding, provided under CED's Quebec Economic Development Program, will allow the ORPEX to continue offering its services aimed at helping exporters go ahead with their projects targeting new market sales.

"CED is proud of the funding it has provided for ORPEXes since their creation in 1990. Unique to Quebec, these organizations contribute, not only to the attainment of CED's global commercialization and positioning targets for businesses, but also to the ambitious goal set by the Government of Canada, namely a 30% increase in Canadian exports by 2025. By focusing on the importance of innovation, this renewed funding will equip Quebec businesses with the tools they need to favourably position themselves in a highly competitive global ecosystem."
The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister responsible for CED
"By looking beyond their boundaries, Canadian businesses are not only fostering their profitability and growth, but are also showcasing the quality of local products and services on the international stage. The government's support for the ORPEXes is key in fostering the development of these businesses' export projects. By providing DESTL with $360,000 to support the activities of Export Montréal Ouest, CED is helping to reinforce ExMO's commitment to ensure the international promotion of the businesses within its region."
