MONTRÉAL, April 24, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - Gaz Métro strongly welcomes the federal support announced today by Ministers Oliver and Blaney for the extension of the gas network between Lévis and Saint-Claire in the Bellechasse region. This commitment is in addition to the one announced by the Government of Québec, in March, to provide a financial contribution for the same project. This additional support is a further step towards the realization of the project to serve natural gas in the region.
"We are pleased that natural gas draws interest from the regions and that with government cooperation we can respond to the efforts deployed by the community and complete a project that will support economic development and improve Bellechasse's environmental footprint," states Stéphanie Trudeau, Vice-President, Strategy, Communication and Sustainability at Gaz Métro.
It is worth noting that replacing the most emissive energy sources with natural gas makes it possible to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 30% and significantly reduce the consumers' energy bills.
