SOREL, QC, May 19, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - Rio Tinto Fer et Titane, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Rio Tinto Group, regrets to confirm that a worker died from injuries sustained in an incident today at its Sorel-Tracy operations in Quebec.
Rio Tinto Fer et Titane is collaborating with the Sûreté du Québec and the CSST and investigations are ongoing. As a precaution, Rio Tinto Fer et Titane has suspended operations in Sorel-Tracy until further notice.
Rio Tinto Fer et Titane, Sorel-Tracy managing director Sylvain Paul-Hus said "This is very sad day, our deepest sympathies and thoughts are with the worker's family and colleagues. There is nothing more important to us than the safety and wellbeing of our workers – including our contractors."
