WENDAKE, QC, March 23, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - The Assembly of First Nations Quebec-Labrador (AFNQL) salutes the courage demonstrated in the first budget of the Trudeau era, which invests the sums necessary to respond to some of the urgent basic needs such as housing, water and education.
"This budget is a clear attempt to address the human, social and economic catastrophe and the deep chasm left by ten years of willful neglect on the part of the previous government. We are beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel," stated AFNQL Chief Ghislain Picard.
The AFNQL also expects that the new relationship between the Crown and First Nations to which the Trudeau government is committed will lead to concrete results in the years to come. It is the sign of hope that First Nations and particularly our children have long waited for, and it finally arrived today.
