Federal Funding Allocated to Support Aboriginal and Public Participation in the Environmental Assessment of the Roberts Bank Terminal 2 Project

OTTAWA, June 16, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency is announcing today the allocation of $448,355.75 to 13 applicants to support their participation in the federal environmental assessment of the proposed Roberts Bank Terminal 2 Project located in Delta, British Columbia, approximately 35 kilometres south of Vancouver.

This funding is allocated through the Participant Funding Program administered by the Agency and is intended to assist the participation of Aboriginal groups, not-for profit organizations and individuals in the environmental assessment, including reviewing and providing comments on the Review Panel Terms of Reference and the Environmental Impact Statement, and preparing for and participating in the public hearing.

• Port Metro Vancouver proposes the construction and operation of a new three-berth marine container terminal located at Roberts Bank in Delta, British Columbia. The proposed project, to be located next to the existing Deltaport and Westshore Terminals, would provide an additional 2.4 million units of container capacity per year at Roberts Bank.
