OTTAWA, March 28, 2012 /CNW/ - A pilot project of the Canadian Teachers' Federation (CTF) in collaboration with the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) has recently taken one of the top honours in the Ashoka Changemakers Initiative*: Inspiring Approaches to First Nations, Métis and Inuit Learning.
The CTF-AFN pilot project "To Learn: Sharing, Wisdom, Strength, and Unity" was launched via the CTF's Imagineaction program and will twin a number of First Nations schools and publicly funded schools across Canada.
"The pilot projects which are set to start in the fall will encourage Canadian students to embark on a cultural and educational journey through which they will celebrate their commonalities while respecting their differences which exist in our communities," says CTF President Paul Taillefer. "Most importantly, this project will offer individual students a platform for reflection, critical thinking, leadership, action, creativity, and empowerment."
