The Government of Canada provides more than $1 million in funding to the firms William Millénaire, Bio Compost, Métallitech, Arivac and Solar-O-Matic Technologie

Businesses need to regularly improve and modernize their production equipment and facilities to remain competitive and support their growth. With this in mind, five companies located in Saint-Hyacinthe and in the Acton regional county municipality (RCM) will benefit from CED support to improve their productivity and increase their production capacity and conquer new markets.
By investing in the production capacity of businesses, the Government of Canada remains committed to helping them grow, innovate and market their products, and thus create quality jobs and ensure prosperity for the Canadian and regional economy.
Repayable contributions totalling $1,085,000 were announced today by David Lametti, Member of Parliament for LaSalle‒Émard‒Verdun and Parliamentary Secretary to the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED.
With this funding, William Millénaire Inc., Bio Compost Inc., Métallitech Inc., Arivac Inc. and Solar-O-Matic Technologie Inc. (Website in French only) were able to purchase production equipment and develop their marketing activities. These projects will generate total investments of nearly $5.5 million and create 22 jobs in the region.
The funding, allocated by the Government of Canada under CED's Quebec Economic Development Program, will enable recipient businesses to achieve their growth objectives.

William Millénaire specializes in the design and manufacture of furniture and other upholstered products for the residential, commercial and institutional sectors. The company is highly sought after by its commercial and institutional clients for its integrated line of furniture and architectural cabinetry components made almost exclusively from Canadian raw materials. In addition, William Millénaire works with prominent designers and architects on custom and turnkey projects that meet client requirements.
The project consists in acquiring and installing new-generation equipment as well as implementing IT solutions that will make it possible to digitize and optimize the management of production operations. The company also plans to expand the current plant and add a showroom. CED funding covers all of these activities.

Bio Compost is a start-up manufacturing firm that specializes in the production and marketing of certified-organic worm manure (worm compost). The firm manufactures a range of products in a variety of formats suitable for farmers, producers and consumers. All of the production will take place at its facilities in Béthanie, in the Acton regional county municipality (RCM), where the firm has the world's largest inventory of breeding worms. Bio Compost is an innovative company that will be the first to regularly market high-quality worm compost, the natural properties of which are superior to chemical amendments.
The project objective is to successfully start up the business and take advantage of business opportunities. In the past year, Bio Compost has acquired specialized production equipment and expanded its production plant. CED provided support for all of these operations.
The project is expected to create about short-term three jobs. |

| Repayable contribution of $140,000 towards a total investment of $500,000
Métallitech specializes in thermal spraying, a highly specialized field of dry surface treatment to improve material properties or refurbish used parts. The coating, which may be metallic or non-metallic, can have several properties that improve the performance of its customers' parts: anti-wear, anti-corrosion, anti-stick, conductivity, etc.
The project objective is to improve the performance of the company's metallization activities in order to support its growth in Canada and in overseas markets. The investment involves acquiring and installing a thermal spraying robot and other production equipment, acquiring software, and expanding and refitting the plant.
CED funding will cover the purchase and installation of a thermal spraying robot, programming software, tools, a cylindrical grinding machine and handling equipment.

Arivac is a biotech company that specializes in agri-food and animal health. The company is one of four Canadian wholesalers and manufacturers licensed to sell pharmaceutical and veterinary products to livestock farms. It is also one of the top private laboratories in Canada, providing analysis and diagnostic services (serological, bacteriological, pathological, virological, etc.) for these same sectors.
Arivac's new product research program reflects its vision and goal, which is to become a global pharmaceutical company that runs on innovation.
The project objective is to provide the company with the necessary production capacity for its veterinary products, as well as to step up marketing efforts for these products. Activities funded by CED include the acquisition and installation of production equipment, the hiring of a sales representative for the Western Canada market, and obtaining the GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) certification necessary for the manufacturing and marketing of the products concerned.

| Solar-O-Matic Technologie inc. (Website in French only) |
Repayable contribution of $75,000 towards a total investment of $200,000
The result of 10 years of research and development, Solar-O-Matic (Solar) is a start-up company specializing in the manufacture and marketing of solar panels to heat industrial, commercial, institutional (ICI) and residential buildings. The panels preheat the air before it enters the building's HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) system. With the support of the Novika college centre for technology transfer (CCTT) in La Pocatière, the company has developed new innovative solar panels that can be integrated with the water and glycol heating systems widely used in industrial sectors. With its distinctive, exclusive and proven products receiving positive reviews from the National Research Council of Canada and the Novika CCTT, Solar wishes to position itself as an innovative company contributing to clean growth of the economy.
The project objective is to support Solar's start-up. Specifically, it involves obtaining the necessary certifications and establishing the first marketing strategy for the new solar panel (PS-300). CED supports all these activities. |
