To kick off St. Patrick's Day, foodora will waive delivery fee on beer and wine orders from an exclusive partner
MONTREAL, March 10, 2017 /CNW/ - Today foodora, an on-demand food delivery service, announced it will expand its offering by introducing on-demand beer and wine delivery in Montreal. Starting Friday, March 17, customers will be able to order from select partners through the foodora website and mobile apps and have beer and wine delivered directly to their door. To celebrate St. Patrick's Day and introduce customers to its newest feature, foodora will waive its standard delivery fee on all beer and wine orders from high-end grocery chain Alexis Le Gourmand from March 17 until March 31.
"We're excited to be the first company in Montreal to partner with local depanneurs to offer our customers on-demand beer and wine delivery," said Sandy White, foodora's City Manager in Montreal. "foodora is constantly looking for ways to provide convenience to our users, and introducing beer and wine delivery rounds out the entire dining experience for our customers."
From March 17 to 31, Montrealers will have delivery fees waived for all orders placed from foodora partner Alexis Le Gourmand, a high-end grocery chain that offers a selection of 18 different local beer and wine brands alongside prepared food items. In addition to regular menu options, beer and wine delivery will also be available at restaurant prices from other participating partners, including Brit & Chips, Robin Des Bois, and Pizzeria Romeo. The company has plans to bring on additional partners for beer and wine delivery before summer 2017.
"Since opening in 2010, we've seen the food and beverage industry evolve and we're excited to be a part of that change moving forward," said Noée Dion, Alexis Le Gourmand's co-owner. "By partnering with foodora, we're providing our existing customers with a new and easy way to enjoy our products, and we're also expanding our product selection into new neighbourhoods."
With an average delivery time of 35 minutes, beer and wine orders will be fulfilled by foodora's fleet of bicycle couriers within the company's current delivery zone: south of rue Jean Talon, east of boulevard Décarie, west of rue d'Iberville and north of the Lachine Canal. To fulfill high order quantities for special events and large gatherings, foodora will also dispatch cars to ensure it maintains its fast and efficient service. foodora also recently introduced a new pick-up feature in Montreal, which allows customers to order ahead, pre-pay and pick up their order from participating partners.
To place an order for delivery or pick up, customers can visit the foodora website, or download the iOS or Android mobile application, to view partners serving their area. Customers under 25 must present valid government photo ID with every beer and wine delivery or pick-up order. About foodora
foodora was launched in Germany in October 2014, backed by Rocket Internet in April 2015 and merged with Delivery Hero in September 2015. The on-demand delivery service currently connects high-quality restaurants and foodies in 10 countries and is changing the way food delivery is viewed and experienced globally.
How it works
Through the foodora website or via the new iOS and Android apps, customers can enter their postal code and view a curated list of beer and wine partners serving their neighborhood. Once they have made their choice, they can place the order in the comfort of their home or office, paying online through foodora's secure platform. The order is then carefully prepared by the restaurant and brought directly to the customer by the foodora logistics team or picked up by the customer using foodora's new pick-up feature.
