- To help make easy summer living sweeter, Tim Hortons Chill to Win is back to reward guests with the chance to win thousands of instant prizes on all Iced Capp purchases -
OAKVILLE, ON, June 9, 2014 /CNW/ - Canadians are giving celebrities the cold shoulder, at least when it comes to who they would prefer to relax and hang out with this summer. To celebrate the return of Chill to Win, Tim Hortons asked Canadians who they would most want to chill out with this summer, and where. Turns out Canadians like to keep things simple, with 39 per cent preferring to chill out with their spouse/partner. Celebrities ranked a mere three per cent even behind the opportunity of going solo and chilling out alone (10%). And, the number one place to chill out this summer? At home, in their own backyards and at the beach tied for top spot at 33 per cent each.
"When it comes to relaxing, Canadians told us loud and clear that lounging with your loved ones is at the top of the list with family (31%) and best friends (17%) rounding out the top 3 spots," said Dave McKay, Vice President, Beverages, Tim Hortons. "Canadians also like to keep it consistent and chill throughout the whole summer with 33% planning to chill every weekend followed by 28% after work."
While Canadians prefer a low-key summer, starting today, it just got a little more exciting with the second annual Tim Hortons Chill to Win contest, now with instant win prizing that's better than ever. Canadians have the chance to instantly win 10 grand prizes of $5,000 cash, 100 LG televisions, and thousands of Tim Cards when they get a Tim Hortons Iced Capp or frozen beverage.
"Our inaugural year for Chill to Win was a success, but our guests told us they wanted instant win prizing, and we listened," said McKay. "This year in addition to an online PIN game, guests can win instantly in restaurant with any one of the frozen beverages offered at Tim Hortons, including our Iced Capp - the perfect companion wherever and whenever you need to chill out."
Tim Hortons is a leader in frozen beverages, with nearly nine out of every 10 frozen coffee beverages sold in Canadian quick-service restaurants prepared at Tim Hortons. The coffee chain continues to assert its leadership position in the category, with new cold beverage innovations such as this year's Frozen Green Tea and Mango Pineapple Smoothie.
"There's no question that Iced Capp is Canada's iconic summer drink, but we continue to innovate to give our guests great-tasting new options." says McKay. "Guests can look forward to a new flavour innovation on Tim Hortons Iced Capp later this year."
In addition to instant win prizes, guests can also play Chill to Win online at www.chilltowin.com with up to 10 daily plays using PIN codes for the chance to win $1,000 VISA cards and Tim Cards.
Social media fans are asked to join the Chill Nation, by sharing how they kick back and relax on Instagram using #ChillWithTims. Every day @TimHortons will select a photo from the #ChillWithTims gallery to be featured as the photo of the day.
