Government of Canada announces appointment of Ms. Andrea Peart to the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety Français
OTTAWA, March 21, 2014 /CNW/ - Today, the Honourable Dr. K. Kellie Leitch, Minister of Labour and Minister of Status of Women, announced the appointment of Ms. Andrea Peart as Governor representing labour organizations on the Council of Governors of the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS).
Ms. Peart is the National Representative of Health, Safety and Environment with the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC). She was previously a Researcher and Government Relations Assistant with the CLC, and was the former Director of Health and Environment with the Sierra Club of Canada. As Board Chair of Climate Action Network Canada and co-chair of the Green Economy Network, her personal passion for environmental health and sustainability adds a modern perspective to addressing workplace issues.
This will be Ms. Peart's first appointment to the CCOHS; her term will last three years and includes the possibility of re-appointment.

- Established in 1978, the CCOHS promotes the physical, psychosocial and mental health of working Canadians by providing information, training, education, management systems and solutions that support health, safety and wellness programs.
- A not-for-profit federal department corporation, the CCOHS is governed by a tripartite council—representing government, employers and labour—to ensure a balanced approach to workplace health and safety issues.
