MONTRÉAL, Oct. 18, 2012 /CNW/ - On behalf of the Government of Canada, the Honourable Rona Ambrose, Minister of Public Works and Government Services and Minister for Status of Women, today congratulated the recipients of the 12th annual Prix femmes d'affaires du Québec.
"I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the recipients of this well-deserved honour," said Minister Ambrose. "Canada's small and medium-sized business sector continues to grow, fuelled in large part by women entrepreneurs. In so many ways, the economic strength of Quebec and Canada depends on dedicated, innovative and talented women like them."
Since the Réseau d'affaires du Québec established the Prix femmes d'affaires du Québec in 2001, close to 300 finalists have been celebrated and recognized.
"Quebec women are seizing opportunities, both here and abroad, strengthening the economy and inspiring other women to step up to the many challenges of business and entrerpreneurship," said Ms. Ruth Vachon, President-Director General, Réseau des femmes d'affaires du Québec. "It is a special delight to honour the recipients as outstanding businesswomen of achievement."
In honour of the first-ever International Day of the Girl, the theme for Women's History Month is "Strong Girls, Strong Canada: Leaders from the Start." For information on International Day of the Girl and Women's History Month 2012, go to www.women.gc.ca.
