BRAMPTON, ON, Jan. 15, 2014 /CNW/ - Minister of Labour and Minister of Status of Women, Dr. K. Kellie Leitch, announced more than $2.8 million today for women's economic prosperity.
Through Status of Women Canada, the federal government is supporting fourteen Ontario-based projects (see attached annex) to advance women in non-traditional occupations, increase economic options for women, and improve prosperity for immigrant women.
The announcement was made with Member of Parliament for Bramalea-Gore-Malton, and Minister of State (Sport), Bal Gosal, at the Brampton Multicultural Community Centre. The Centre is receiving $200,000 for its project to address barriers affecting immigrant women's economic prosperity such as language skills, Canadian work experience, and access to support services.
