OTTAWA, Feb. 6, 2014 /CNW/ - On behalf of Dr. K. Kellie Leitch, Minister of Labour and Minister of Status of Women, Ms. Susan Truppe, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Status of Women, and Mr. Royal Galipeau, Member of Parliament for Ottawa-Orléans, today announced support to enhance the economic security of women in Ottawa.
Conseil économique et social d'Ottawa Carleton (CÉSOC) is receiving funding to increase economic opportunities for Francophone immigrant women in Ottawa, Ontario. The organization will work with a variety of partners including local employers, financial institutions, community organizations, post-secondary institutions, and school boards. The project will identify best practices, and develop strategies to help Francophone immigrant women overcome barriers related to language skills, lack of work experience, and inability to access to support services.
This project was selected through the Government of Canada's recent call for proposals entitled Opening Doors: Economic Opportunities for Women.
