Harper Government Supports Skills and Training in Yukon - Investment recognizes role of Yukon College in contributing to economic development Français
WHITEHORSE, May 21, 2015 /CNW/ - Ryan Leef, Member of Parliament for Yukon, on behalf of the Honourable Leona Aglukkaq, Minister of the Environment, Minister of the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency and Minister for the Arctic Council, today announced funding for Yukon College to support a comprehensive, long-term plan that will guide the development and future growth of the College's main campus.
The Yukon College Campus Master Plan will outline the renewal and development of the Ayamdigut Campus over the coming decades. It will provide recommendations on generating revenue and it will assist the College in its growth as a post-secondary institution as well as an active contributor to the economic and social development of the City of Whitehorse and the territory.

- CanNor is investing $150,000 and Yukon College is contributing $160,000 over two years, for a total investment of $310,000.
- The Plan will allow the College to develop opportunities for investment, partnerships and economic development to stay current, competitive and attractive in the global market.
- CanNor and the federal government have supported Yukon College on several projects recently, including the Northern Adult Basic Education program and $5.6 million to construct the Centre for Northern Innovation in Mining.
