The Next Founders launches search for 2016 Cohort
TORONTO, Jan. 13, 2016 /CNW/ - The Next 36, Canada's most selective program for young entrepreneurs is seeking 20 founders of massively scalable, high growth ventures to join the 2016 cohort of The Next Founders. Building on a proven founder development model, The Next Founders provides a small group of early stage founders with a network of peers facing similar challenges, exposure to an expanded network of investors, mentors and advisors, as well as tailored education delivered by world-class faculty and successful entrepreneurs. This year's recruitment tour will feature events delivered in partnership with Communitech, Rotman Creative Destruction Lab, Real Ventures and Shopify.
The customizable program blends interactive sessions delivered by successful Canadian entrepreneurs, business leaders and practitioners with masters-level courses taught by North America's top faculty from schools including: The Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, Harvard Business School and MIT. Participants also receive invitations to exclusive networking and pitch events attended by The Next 36 community of over 250 entrepreneurs and investors. "The Next Founders responds to the clear need that many science and tech entrepreneurs have for business skills and relationships", says Peter Carrescia, managing director of The Next 36.
Alumni ventures of The Next Founders include, Nymi - creator of a wristband that authenticates the wearer using their heartbeat, OTI Lumionics - makers of the world's first consumer-ready organic LED lamp, Eve Medical - a medical device company committed to improving women's health, Sampler – a SaaS platform to help marketers manage online promotions and Palette – a modular platform for input devices. Since inception, alumni of the Next Founders have created over 310 jobs in Canada.
There is no cost to participate for successful applicants and The Next Founders takes no equity in their business. Programming is flexible and designed to work with an entrepreneur's busy schedule. Opportunities for co-working space and other perks are also available through community partners. Applications are being accepted online until March 3rd, with the 2016 cohort starting the program on April 15 in Toronto.
