MONTREAL, Aug. 23, 2012 /CNW/ - Hyatt Regency Montreal is very pleased with the Superior Court's decisions this week regarding disruptive tactics by the Confédération des syndicats nationaux (CSN) and is hopeful that a resolution on our labour contracts will be reached in the very near future.
In its rulings dated August 20th and 22nd, the Court ordered the CSN to:
- Cease using the term "lock-out" in reference to our employee's strike activity as well as other derogatory terms used to describe hotel management and its actions;
- Refrain from making statements or inferences that suggest anti-scab laws were ignored;
- Refrain from harassing or intimidating hotel management and employees;
- Stop threatening to compromise hotel cleanliness and hygiene or making false claims that such standards have been compromised; and
- Stop picketing at the hotel and remove stickers and signage from the property.
The company continues to negotiate in good faith while respecting the rights of its associates to organize. Our goal is to provide an equitable benefits package and terms and conditions of employment that will benefit our valued associates and allow our business to succeed in a competitive industry.
Many of Hyatt Regency's associates have been with the company for more than 15 years. Their dedication and the authentic hospitality they provide to guests is integral to our success.
