Collection Points make shopping at IKEA more accessible, convenient and affordable for New Brunswick residents
BURLINGTON, ON, Jan. 18, 2017 /CNW/ - Shopping at IKEA just got more convenient for customers in New Brunswick, with the launch of Collection Points in Moncton and Saint John.
Customers can now shop online for IKEA home furnishings and have them delivered to either Collection Point for only $59, regardless of the size and value of their purchase. This represents significant savings over the average home delivery fee of approximately $140 and will also reduce delivery times. For customers who would still like to have their products delivered to their home, delivery fees and shipping times will remain the same.
"Collection Points allow IKEA to immediately provide our customers with a more affordable shopping experience," said David McCabe, Acting President, IKEA Canada.
The Collection Point is not an IKEA store and is owned by a third party service provider. While it does not have any products available for purchase, Collection Points allow IKEA to make shopping easier in markets that have been identified as having potential.
"In such a large country, it is important to offer a variety of solutions we can use to penetrate markets in relevant and economical ways," said McCabe. "Moncton and Saint John are natural next steps in our plan to grow the IKEA brand in Canada."
It is IKEA's aim to make the brand more accessible and convenient for the many Canadians, through increased service offerings like Collection Points, Pick-up and order points, improvements to its eCommerce interface and optimized distribution services. IKEA hopes to provide its customers with one consistent IKEA experience, no matter which channels they choose to use.
In 2015, IKEA Canada announced an ambitious plan to double in size by 2025. To achieve this goal, the retailer will open in new locations with existing formats and also introduce some new formats over the next 10 years.
IKEA is a leading home furnishing retailer with 375 stores in more than 50 countries worldwide, which are visited by 884 million people every year. IKEA Canada has 12 stores, an eCommerce virtual store, 6 Pick-up and order points in Quebec City and southern Ontario and two Collection Points in Halifax and Saskatoon. The company also recently announced plans to open stores in Halifax and Quebec City. Last year, IKEA Canada welcomed 28 million visitors to its stores and 88 million visitors to the IKEA.ca website. Founded in 1943, IKEA's business philosophy is to offer a wide range of products of good design and function at prices so low, the majority of people can afford them.
