The New 2013 IKEA Catalogue is Loaded with Interactive Features
BURLINGTON, ON, Aug. 13, 2012 /CNW/ - Each year, over 200 million people worldwide anticipate the arrival of the IKEA Catalogue. This year starting August 13, IKEA enthusiasts will be treated to even more inspiration on every page and new interactive functions that enhance the experience of the IKEA Catalogue. When holding a smartphone or tablet over a page, users are able to access films about IKEA products, experience 3D models, look behind closed doors with an x-ray function or change the curtains and get creative. To access the bonus material, download the IKEA App to smartphones or tablets or see everything by visiting www.IKEA.ca.
This year's Catalogue campaign encourages people to engage with the pages they like best by sharing them with friends. For the first time, IKEA Canada will be posting a selection of preview pages from the Catalogue on Pinterest, so that people can find a page and Pin their favourite kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms or living rooms, granting them the opportunity to win IKEA gift cards for Pinning.
"With the 2013 Catalogue, we have packed in lots of new interactive features, 300 new products and the latest design trends that truly inspire the imagination," says Madeleine Löwenborg-Frick, Public Relations Manager, IKEA Canada. "We want our customers to interact with our Catalogue and experience our products in a unique and creative way."
The 2013 IKEA Catalogue features new products represented by fresh trends that offer something for everyone.
GLAM - The mirrored surface of the new MALM dresser and the sleek sophistication of the FOLLDAL white leather bed will make any bedroom fit for a movie star. The MALM dresser has undergone a glamorous makeover. The limited edition mirrored finished dresser has better gliders and soft-closing features in its three drawers with increased overall sturdiness to withstand greater weight.
TRIBAL - Inspired by global influences, handmade traditions and graphic patterns the new LAPPLJUNG textile collection creates a warm worldly style. For inspiration, IKEA turned to the Musée de l'Impression sur Étoffes in Mulhouse, France where textile patterns from different periods and places are collected and can be licensed for a limited time.
LOFT- This year's new range features oversized statements like the new HEKTAR industrial lamp and FYLLIG vase from glassblowers in Poland. These pieces are perfect to create a strong statement in a minimalist environment or to mix in an eclectic home.
SWEDISH COUNTRY - Soft floral, pattern and check textiles from the new EMMIE collection and the gentle lace of the new ALVINE SPETZ curtains invoke images of dreamy summer nights from long ago. Mixed with strong new pieces like the HEMNES glass cabinet this expression stays true to IKEA's heritage and creates a cozy and romantic feeling.
BOUTIQUE HOTEL - For the minimalist, IKEA has launched the über chic NORDLI bed frame and bedside table. The clean, white lines add crisp touches to a modern bedroom. The bedside table is optimized for charging gadgets with a hidden shelf that has an open back and there is also a groove in the back legs to conceal pesky cords. Paired with the new graphic colour block FÄRGLAV duvet cover and pillowcases the combination creates the feeling of a boutique hotel without the 5-star price tag.
TURQUOISE - Every colour has a moment but it seems that Turquoise manages to be timeless in its appeal. Major furniture series like BESTÅ media storage, MALM bedroom furniture, KLIPPAN sofas and even RUBRIK kitchen doors and NUMERÄR counters are being featured in shades of this cool retro hue.
DIY - At the root of the IKEA concept lies the "I did it" moment. Now more than ever, the company encourages its customers to have fun with products and create their own personal expressions. The 2013 Catalogue goes well with paint, scissors, glue, needles, thread and open mind. The new TIDNY textile shows a fantasy landscape with a varied cast of characters, places and things. It was designed as a fabric that people could either use fabric pens to fill in the contours using their imaginations or use it just like it is, in black and white.
IKEA makes thousands of home visits around the globe every year to talk with people, see how they live and listen to their thoughts and needs. The aim of the Catalogue is to inspire people to look at their home in new ways.
