QUEBEC CITY, March 1, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - The Quebec Port Authority (QPA) is happy to announce that a consortium made of Inter-Nation-Art, a subsidiary of the Festival d'été de Québec and evenko will assume the responsibility of managing the Port of Quebec Agora site for the next 2 years.
This agreement is made following the one concluded in January 2010, which had been signed between the QPA and Inter-Nation-Art for a two-year period. Since then, the Festival d'Été de Québec's subsidiary has been in charge of the exploitation of the Port of Quebec Agora site. Last December, Inter-Nation-Art's managers met with the QPA's higher management in order to present a report on their operations.
By choosing this consortium, the QPA is certain of benefitting from the union of two pillars of the entertainment industry who both count on expertise recognized in Quebec City and throughout the province. The QPA wishes to do everything in its power so that the Agora becomes an integral part of the different festivities that characterize Quebec City during summer. Details about the upcoming programming will be unveiled in the near future.
The Quebec Port Authority is a shared-governance corporation constituted in accordance with the Canada Marine Act. The Agora site has been the QPA's responsibility since 2001. In 2005, the QPA announced that the sites of the Pointe-à-Carcy and the Agora would be reconfigured in order to enable the federal government's legacy for the 400th anniversary of Quebec City. In 2008, the QPA inaugurated the site after respecting budgets and deadlines established.
