Islamic Relief Canada launches fundraising campaign to support those affected by the incident at Yonge and Finch Français
TORONTO, April 23, 2018 /CNW/ - Islamic Relief Canada has launched a fundraising campaign through LaunchGood to support those who have been affected by the incident at Yonge and Finch in Toronto today. The campaign is also being supported by the Fakhi Foundation.
The charity is calling on Canadians to respond to the crisis by donating to the fund they have set up to support the victims and their families.
The latest reports on the incident suggest that 10 people have tragically lost their lives when pedestrians were struck by a van near the intersection of Yonge St. and Finch Ave. in the north end of Toronto at around 1:30 PM.
Mohamed Fakhi, of the Fakhi Foundation says:
"I'm heartbroken for the victims and their families. This is horrendous news coming from Toronto. Our team is ready to extend support to all those who may need it during this difficult time."
Zaid Al-Rawni, CEO of Islamic Relief Canada, says:
"We are all shocked and saddened by the incident at Yonge and Finch today. We offer our condolences to the families of the victims and those injured in today's incident. Islamic Relief Canada is ready to help in whatever we way we can. Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected."
