HALIFAX, May 17, 2012 /CNW/ - Jazz Aviation LP ("Jazz") received top honours at the 2012 European Safety Management Symposium, hosted by Baines Simmons, by besting a list of finalists to win the first Innovation in Aviation Safety Management Award.
Jazz's selection for the award was attributed to our success at integrating several existing systems into one safety and business management system. The judges' statement on selecting Jazz as the winner was: "The Jazz entry stood out for its evidence of integrating SMS across aviation safety, quality, health and safety, and business. The company demonstrated an excellent reporting culture with high reporting levels and report quality."

Seven finalists were chosen among submissions from individuals, teams and organizations from around the world. The award winner was announced at a gala Tuesday evening; May 15, 2012; in London, UK.
The purpose of the Award is to recognize an innovative approach to the application of aviation safety management systems and its relationship with improved business performance and profitability. Finalists were chosen based on criteria associated with innovation, enhancing aviation safety management, a business case demonstrating relevance and justification for introducing the solution.
