MONTREAL, Dec. 4, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Thanks to an inalienable capital in constant growth, the Jean Béliveau Foundation will continue to radiate and to pursue for countless generations of children with disabilities a work to which this illustrious philanthropist was so devoted.
Such is the solemn promise made to Jean Béliveau. The Quebec Society for Disabled Children has committed to respect this promise when he decided, in 1993, to entrust the management of his foundation created twenty years earlier and to dedicate its annual income, the interests on the invested capital, for the improvement of the equipment, the infrastructures and the activities' sites at Camp Papillon.
Today, thanks to quality management of the investment portfolio ensured by a board of trustees, the capital of the Jean Béliveau Foundation is worth $1,733,000.
Above all, since it was created in 1971, the Jean Béliveau Foundation will have contributed the colossal amount of $1.9 million, which represents part of the sum of the annual interests, for the well-being of thousands of disabled and disadvantaged youngsters. The other part of the annual interests is added to the capital to ensure its growth.
Up until these past few weeks, the board of trustees of the Jean Béliveau Foundation was directly accountable to Mr. Béliveau. From now on, the trustees will report to his daughter Hélène.
