CALGARY, Jan. 2, 2013 /CNW/ - The Joint Review Panel (the Panel) conducting the review of the proposed Enbridge Northern Gateway Project will hear oral statements in Victoria, Vancouver and Kelowna beginning on 4 January 2013.
The Panel will be in Victoria from 4-11 January, Vancouver from 14-18 January and 30 January- 1 February, and Kelowna on 28 January. Please see the Panel's website (www.gatewaypanel.review.gc.ca) for the locations and specific start times for each day.
In Victoria and Vancouver, those participants who have registered and scheduled their oral statement should go to the Hearing Venue location to make their statement. Members of the public who wish to view the oral statements should go to the Public Viewing location. A live broadcast of the oral statements will be shown in the Public Viewing location. Further details are available in Procedural Direction #13 which is available on the Panel's website.
The hearing to receive oral statements in Kelowna will be held on 28 January 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time. Please see the Panel's website for location details.
Upon completion of the community hearings for oral statements, the Panel will resume the questioning phase of the final hearings in Prince Rupert, B.C. The questioning phase will continue until mid-May. Final argument (both written and oral) will take place from mid-May to the end of June 2013. The Panel will release its recommendation report by 31 December 2013.
The proposed Enbridge Northern Gateway Project involves the construction of two 1 170-kilometre pipelines running from Bruderheim, Alberta to Kitimat, British Columbia and the construction and operation of the Kitimat Marine Terminal.
About the Joint Review Panel
The Joint Review Panel for the Enbridge Northern Gateway Project is an independent body, mandated by the Minister of the Environment and the National Energy Board. The Panel will assess the environmental effects of the proposed project and review the application under both the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012 and the National Energy Board Act.
