Last chance to see this year's top films honoured by the Giant Screen Cinema Association (GSCA)

MONTREAL, May 2, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - There are just a few days left to see or revisit the top two films of 2012, which tied for first place at the Giant Screen Cinema Association (GSCA) awards: To the Arctic 3D and Rocky Mountain Express. These documentaries are being screened in Montreal exclusively at the Science Centre's IMAX^®TELUS Theatre until May 30, 2013.

In addition to winning top honours in the Best Film category, To The Arctic 3D also took the award for Best Educational Film and Rocky Mountain Express also won for Best Photography.

The film experience is intensified at the Science Centre's IMAX^®TELUS Theatre where images are projected on a screen ten times larger than standard—as high as a seven-storey building.

TO THE ARCTIC 3D
The first film in the ambitious global project One World One Ocean, To The Arctic 3D is a spectacular voyage through a northern world that engages viewers in a compelling story of survival in the face of the greatest challenges on the planet. To The Arctic 3D reveals for the first time the daily life of a mother bear and her twin six-month-old cubs as they travel through the wild and changing Arctic world that is their home. This fascinating film immerses viewers in the intimate life of a family struggling to survive in a frigid environment of melting ice, enormous glaciers, majestic waterfalls and snowy peaks.

Warner Brothers Pictures and IMAX^® Filmed Entertainment present this production by MacGillivray Freeman Film, directed by two-time Academy Award finalist Greg MacGillivray (The Living Sea and Dolphins). Stephen Judson (Everest) wrote and edited To The Arctic 3D, which was produced by Shaun MacGillivray (Grand Canyon Adventure: River at Risk).

The sound track by Steve Wood incorporates songs by Paul McCartney.

ROCKY MOUNTAIN EXPRESS
Rocky Mountain Express tells the fascinating story of the construction of Canada's first transcontinental railroad.

Directed by award-winning Canadian filmmaker Stephen Low, who has spent thirty years making movies for the giant screen, Rocky Mountain Express takes the viewer on a breathtaking journey by steam train through the majestic Canadian Rockies.

Interweaving spectacular IMAX^® aerial cinematography, magnificent western landscapes, archival images and maps, and the powerful rhythm and energy of a steam locomotive, the movie transports the viewer back to the Age of Steam.
