TORONTO, May 1, 2015 /CNW/ - Effective immediately, the public can help support those whose lives have been devastated by the earthquake in Nepal by making donations to the Canadian Red Cross "Nepal Earthquake Relief Fund" at any of the more than 650 LCBO stores throughout Ontario. The Government of Canada will match the donations of individual Canadians until May 25, 2015. Funds raised through these programs will support ongoing humanitarian assistance in earthquake affected communities.
Donation boxes will be displayed at LCBO checkout counters and customers can add donation denominations of $2, $5, and $10 to their purchase until May 25, 2015.
"LCBO customers and staff have a long history of giving generously to help others affected by natural disasters," says LCBO President & CEO Bob Peter. "LCBO customers are invited to make donations at checkout counters from now until May 25 to assist with the relief efforts currently underway in Nepal."
"Red Cross volunteers and staff are working around the clock to help families who have been affected by the devastating earthquake in Nepal," says Conrad Sauvé, secretary general and CEO of the Canadian Red Cross. "We are thankful to LCBO and their customers for their contribution to our humanitarian mission."
