L'École Taché to be Expanded; New School for Students of École communautaire La Voie du Nord

Government of Canada supports two important projects in Manitoba

WINNIPEG, March 28, 2014 /CNW/ - The Government of Canada today announced support for the construction of a new school--community centre, and for the expansion of a school in Manitoba. Funding of $2.7 million will go towards the construction of a new school--community centre to better serve the needs of students and of Thompson's Francophone community, while $1.5 million will support the expansion of l'École Taché and addition of community spaces.

In addition to supporting minority-language learning in Manitoba, the new school--community centre will serve all members of Thompson's Francophone community by making community spaces available. Students and members of the community could have access to their new school--community centre by March 2016.

L'École Taché will be able to increase its early childhood and daycare services. In addition, a multipurpose room will be available for use by members of the minority Francophone community.

Part of the funding announced today comes from the Roadmap for Canada's Official Languages 2013--2018: Education, Immigration, Communities.
