MONTREAL, May 24, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - Today was the provincial edition of the Leucan Shaved Head Challenge, presented by The Jean Coutu Group. Leucan seized this opportunity to break the Guinness World Record for the most heads shaved in four hours. More than 1,000 generous individuals had their heads shaved across 19 shaving sites in Quebec in an effort to support cancer-stricken children.
"The current Guinness record is 662 heads shaved. We exceeded our goal to achieve a world record for generosity. We hope to obtain the official recognition in the next few months. Additionally, we are on track to reach the goal of raising $5M," remarks enthusiastically Lysanne Groulx, Director, Marketing and Communications, Leucan.
Several public figures joined Leucan at La Ronde
La Ronde welcomed the provincial edition of this highly emotional event where public personalities devoted to the cause were in attendance, including Dominic Paquet, provincial spokesperson: "It's a great honour for me to take part in this incredible event as participant and spokesperson for a fourth year. To commemorate the Challenge's fifteenth anniversary, we are breaking records! I urge the population to visit recordstetesrasees.com and take part in a group or individual record to help us reach our goals."
The day was hosted by Lorna Gordon, Nicolas Ouellet, Chéli Sauvé-Castonguay and Richard Turcotte. Serge Tremblay, founder of the Leucan Shaved Head Challenge, also took part in this great wave of solidarity. "It's important to remember that the Challenge continues throughout the year and that people can still sign up by visiting shavedheadchallenge.com," added Mr. Tremblay.
The Leucan team would like to thank The Jean Coutu Group for its involvement as presenter of the Challenge for a sixth edition and Mia for creating the Earring of Hope. Profits from the sale of the earring will go to Leucan.
