Life and Health Insurance Industry Develops Affidavit to Ease Process for Lac-Mégantic Claims Français
TORONTO, July 18, 2013 /CNW/ - As the search for victims continues in Lac-Mégantic, identifying or locating the missing will continue to be a difficult task. The Canadian life and health insurance industry remains committed to assisting the families of those who have lost loved ones. To help beneficiaries of the missing to make claims as easily as possible, the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association (CLHIA) has developed a model affidavit form specifically for Lac-Mégantic that its member insurance companies can use when a death certificate is not available.
In addition, if families are unable to locate a life insurance policy or do not know who the insurer is, they can contact the OmbudService for Life & Health Insurance for assistance at 1-866-582-2088 (ext. 2133), or on the web at www.olhi.ca.
The CLHIA also has a page on its website at www.clhia.ca for residents of Lac-Mégantic that points to other helpful information such as links to the website of its life and health insurance member companies.
